After nearly 25 years of testing and development, the world-renowned University of Georgia turfgrass breeding program and the USDA Agricultural Research Service have jointly released TIFTUF®. TIFTUF® was selected for its superior drought and wear tolerance while consistently maintaining excellent turf quality. The Federal Specialty Crop Research Initiative has identified TIFTUF® as the most drought tolerant bermudagrass, becoming the new standard for all future University drought tolerance testing. Further testing has shown that TIFTUF® uses 38% less water than Tifway while maintaining better turf quality. Fine textured and dense, TIFTUF® greens up early and maintains its color well into the fall.

TifTuf Bermuda is incredibly drought-tolerant and water-efficient, as proven by extensive independent turf trials.

This turf variety was developed in the United States and selected specifically for its drought tolerance. Hundreds of independent trials and assessments, conducted by various university programs, have measured the water-saving genetics of TifTuf. With over 25 years of data, TifTuf has consistently proven to be the standout performer in these trials.

TifTuf Bermuda is the first and only grass to be awarded the Smart Approved WaterMark (also known as Smart Drop Certified) for its exceptional water-saving benefits. It can be established with a fraction of the water that most other varieties require. This efficiency is partly due to its rapidly establishing root system, which allows it to take root in less than 7 days—up to 75% faster than other varieties.

Our goal is a network of producers committed to marketing premium quality turfgrasses with superior genetics and achieving market coverage with great opportunities for their businesses.

Many states and regions where TIFTUF® is adapted are closed for licensing. But opportunities remain in several states and regions. We will be happy to provide details on TIFTUF® and our program if you are in one of these open areas.
